BUILDING PERMITS DOWN IN JULY

Building permits issued by the city of Brenham were down for the month of July.  The city issued 20 permits totaling $920,000 in July compared to 37 permits for $2.1 million in 2016.  The permits were led by a $400,000 project by Buccaneer Food Store on Prairie Lee Street.   They plan on replacing their underground fuel tanks and overhead canopy during the coming months.  Commercial permits represented $465,000 of the total for the month.  There was only one new residence permit issued for July.

Building permit totals for the year still remain ahead of last year’s pace.  Brenham has issued 277 permits for $39 million so far this year.  That compares to 231 permits for $32 million issued by this date in 2016.
