COMMISSIONERS SEEK BIDS ON SCHOOL LAND LEASES

  

Washington County Commissioners agreed to advertise for bids on the leases for four tracts of farmland in Tom Green County.  The county manages the land for the benefit of the Brenham and Burton school districts.  The leases on the 4 tracts of farmland brought in $110 thousand dollars to the school districts last year.  The county manages 6 farming leases and 1 hunting lease on tracts of land in Tom Green County in west Texas.  The bids are due to be opened on August 29th.

In other action, commissioners accepted a sub-grant from the Texas Division of Emergency Management for $18,687.  The grant is for repairs to Jeske Road after the May 2016 floods.  The grant is part of an ongoing series of payments for repairs made by the county.

Commissioners also approved the imposition of the road and bridge fee on vehicle license plate renewals.  The annual approval allows the county to collect a fee for road and bridge maintenance from every new or renewed registration.

Commissioners also certified that the County has granted funds this year to the Washington County Healthy Living Association.  The certification allows the WCHLA to receive funds from the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Home-Delivered Meal Program.
