GRIMES CO. MAN ARRESTED IN SHOOTING
A Grimes County man faces charges after a shooting and brief standoff at a home near Bedais, Thursday morning.
46-year old Brandt Lee Jamail is free on $5,000 bond after his arrest just after 1:00, Thursday morning.
Grimes Co. Sheriff’s deputies were called to a disturbance at a home off FM 1696, just before 1:00 a.m., where a 20-year old man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm.
Jamail refused to come out of the residence. Members of the county’s Emergency Response Team Tactical Unit were called to the scene. A short time later Jamail was taken into custody without use of force.
According to investigators, Jamail confessed to firing a gun in the direction of the victim, in an altercation involving narcotics.
Jamail was charged with Deadly Conduct. He was later freed on $5,000 bond.
Deadly Conduct is a Third Degree Felony, punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a possible $10,000 fine.
