RE-ZONE REQUEST HEARINGS AT CITY COUNCIL THURSDAY
Three requests to re-zone property along State Highway 36 South of Brenham are on the agenda for the Brenham City Council meeting this Thursday.
Carl Detering Jr. is asking to have two pieces of property re-zoned. Detering would like his property in the 3200 block of State Highway 36 South to be changed from B-1, local/business/residential to B-2, commercial, research and technology use. He is also asking that a strip of land behind that property be changed from its current zoning of B-1 to R-2, which is a mixed residential district. That property does not front the highway.
Keilers Properties, which owns adjacent land at 3201 Highway 36 South, is also requesting a zoning change from B-1 to B-2. Keilers intends to open a Cy Fair Tire business there. Cy Fair Tire is a wholesale and retail distributor of tires, and provides on-site installation.
The Brenham City Council will hold public hearing on those zoning requests before voting on them during their regular meeting this Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
Also during Thursday’s meeting the Council will hold a workshop on design standards and guidelines for the Main Street Incentive Grant Program. A contract with DBT Transportation Services for the support and maintenance of the Automated Weather Observation System at the Brenham Municipal Airport will be discussed. A contract for exterior improvements to the City Hall with CR Systems Inc. will be explored. And the Council will look to purchase a Haul Truck for the Sanitation Department using the State’s BuyBoard system.
During Executive Session, the Brenham City Council is expected to discuss economic incentives for a business considering locating in or near Brenham, and they will evaluate candidates to replace Terry Roberts, who is retiring as City Manager.
