CALDWELL I.S.D. REINTRODUCES “STAY ALERT” PROGRAM
Officials with the Caldwell Independent School District say they plan to reintroduce the "Stay Alert" tool to teachers and students.
"Stay Alert" is a tip line where students can email or text anonymous reports to faculty and staff at the district.
Superintendent Andrew Peters says they want to, “remind the kids they have this tool.”
Peters says if students, “are being bullied, know of some potential crime or vandalism, or whatever the issue is, this is how it can be reported.”
Next week, district staff will reintroduce the tool to teachers, as well as high school students.
Peters said the tool has been at the district for four or five years, but has been underutilized.
Peters said this push to refamiliarize staff and students with "Stay Alert" is in response to the shooting in Parkland, Florida, and the district's own threats.
