GRIMES CO. RESIDENTS WANT FLOODED ROAD ADDRESSED
Some residents in Grimes County are expressing concerns over a part of a local highway that has repeatedly flooded.
Wednesday night, Gibbons Creek flooded over Highway 30, causing officials to close down the roadway.
The section between FM 244 and Highway 90 was closed early Thursday morning, and residents said they’re upset because thzt section of the highway has been closed repeatedly.
"The rain kept coming all day long and I swear it down poured for three hours straight," said Grimes County resident Alan Walts.
Drivers who commute on Highway 30 and pass over Gibbons Creek said the water rises quickly.
The water has since receded and the roadway opened back up. Residents believe it's only a matter of time before the waters rise again.
Residents are asking the county to do something to the stretch of road before they say something drastic happens.
