NAVASOTA MAYOR/CITY HONORED
The City of Navasota and its mayor have been honored by the Texas Municipal League Institute.
More than 175 elected city officials from all over the state of Texas attended the organization’s three-day conference, but only four Awards of Excellence were earned by those in attendance, including Navasota Mayor Bert Miller.
According to the organization, the award is given to individuals who received a TMLI continuing education certificate for five consecutive years. The city of Navasota’s award was given in recognition of the city having an elected official who had received a TMLI certificate for five consecutive years.
Miller received the Award of Excellence in recognition of his commitment to continuing education. He also received a Certificate of Achievement, which is awarded to individuals who completed 54 or more continuing education units during the 2017 calendar year. According to TMLI, only 11 of these Certificates of Achievement were earned by elected officials throughout the state.
The TMLI Program is designed to enhance the leadership and problem-solving capabilities of Texas’ elected city officials.
