SOMERVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER CHASE–SHOTS FIRED

No one was injured after shots were fired following a high speed chase this weekend in Burleson County.
According to the Department of Public Safety, Saturday night DPS Troopers disabled a domestic assault suspect’s vehicle as it backed towards a Somerville Police officer.
Reports say 36-year old Richard Laredo Jr. of Somerville, had been fleeing from law enforcement officers just before the incident.
DPS Troopers were assisting the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office with a domestic violence call around 11:30 p.m., when Laredo fled the scene driving into a ditch on State Highway 36.
Laredo then tried to escape by backing towards an officer standing outside his patrol car. The DPS Trooper then fired his weapon and disable the vehicle, and Laredo was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
Laredo was arrested and charged with felony Evading Arrest, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Interference with an Emergency Call.
