CITY HIRES FIRM TO HELP RECOVER FEMA FUNDS

The City of Brenham will now have some help in trying to recover funds from FEMA for the repairs due to the flooding in May of 2016.  Brenham City Council approved an agreement this (Thursday) afternoon with Rostan Solutions.  The firm will take over the tedious process of requesting reimbursements from FEMA for the numerous repair projects.  City Engineer Lori Lakatos suggested in February that council should consider hiring a firm to handle the numerous reports and filings because they were taking up too much of her and her staff’s time.  City Manager James Fisher said that hiring the firm was not a result of Lakatos work.  He said she produced some of the most detailed spreadsheets that he has ever seen in response to FEMA requests.  City Councilman Danny Goss asked if Rostan would be working on all of the FEMA requests or just the major ones.  Lakatos responded:

Lakatos said that the city currently has between 4 and 6 million dollars in requested reimbursements with FEMA and have only received around $100,000 in payment.  The contract with Rostan Solutions provides up to $200,000 for their services.  That amount is also eligible for reimbursement from FEMA.
