LOCAL MARCH UNEMPLOYMENT UP SLIGHTLY
The jobless rate in Washington County rose slightly to 4.2-percent in the month of March—up two-tenths from the 4-percent rate in February.
One year ago, the local jobless rate stood at 5.3-percent.
The county’s job force in March 15,050 – with 631 people jobless.
The state’s unemployment rate remains steady at 4.1-percent, while the U.S. unemployment rate is 4.1-percent.
In Area counties:
The only local county with an increase, was Grimes County, up two-tenths to 4.7-percent.
Waller County dropped two-tenths to 4.4-percent.
All other counties remained the same as last month.
Austin County: 3.9-percent; Brazos County: 2.9-percent; Burleson County, 3.8-percent; Fayette County, 3.1-percent; and Lee County, 3.5-percent.
