CITY WARNS ABOUT ‘UTILITY BILL’ SCAM

  

Brenham Police say they have been receiving numerous calls regarding a new scam that has been occurring.

The perpetrators, using various names like Joe or Eric, are calling from a 409-234-0240 number claiming to be an entergy utility company. When they call, they are claiming they have not received payments on customers’ accounts and are threatening to shut the customers’ utilities off.

The scammers are asking to send a payment by mail using the real actual Entergy address located in Spring, TX, however the phone number they are calling from is not the real number.

If you call the number back it is actually a fake recording of the Entergy automated system.

If you have services in Brenham TX, only the City of Brenham will contact you for non-payment etc.
