BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL CTE TEACHER HONORED

A Career and Technical Education teacher at Brenham High School has been selected to receive a statewide award.

Martha Ratcliff will receive the CTE Showcase of Excellence Award from the Career and Technical Association of Texas during their conference this summer in Fort Worth.  Ratcliff, along with her assistant Nora Sanchez, are being honored for their dedication to students in the CTE Discovery Class.  The class at Brenham High School gives students an opportunity to explore over 250 job tasks related to the areas of business/marketing, construction/industrial, processing/production and consumer/service.  The class has been a partnership between the CTE department and the Special Education department for three years.

Brenham High School CTE Director Cody Stelter said, “Mrs. Ratcliff and Mrs. Sanchez are providing a learning environment that will have a lasting impact on their students’ lives, giving them needed skills to perform a wage-earning job.”  Stelter said Ratcliff has made the program “something that needs to be duplicated across the state.”
