HARMEL-RIPPLE RUNNING FOR ONE YEAR TERM ON BURTON SCHOOL BOARD
The Burton School Board Election is tomorrow (Saturday) and two candidates are running to fill the unexpired term of Ronnie Hohlt. Holt resigned from the school board in August of last year after accepting a job with the school district. Jeff Harmel was appointed by the school board to fill the position until the May 2018 election. Harmel and Ricky Ripple are running for the one year term on the school board.
Ricky Ripple says it’s clear that the average daily attendance at the schools is rising and the focus of any bond issue needs to be on classroom space:
Ripple says he feels that the campus at Burton is fairly secure, but he is not opposed to allowing the teachers to be armed as an economical way to increase security. He says one of the priorities of the board needs to be finding a way to retain quality teachers and staff:
Jeff Harmel is the other candidate running for the 1 year term on the board. He has been unavailable for comment. Voting for the Burton School Board Election is Saturday from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM at the Burton High School lobby. KWHI will have the results of the election Saturday evening when the ballots are counted.
