18-WHEELER OVERTURNS AT HWY 36 AND 290 CLOVERLEAF
An overturned 18-wheeler has caused the closure of the State Highway 36 loop northbound lane at the cloverleaf in Brenham.
The truck, which was hauling a heavy load, overturned sometime before 11 a.m. Saturday and rolled into the center section of the cloverleaf. It was trying to take the exit to go west on U.S. Highway 290. As they attempt to remove the 18-wheeler, the northbound lane of the loop is closed right at the overpass. All northbound traffic on the loop is being forced to take the Brenham exit toward downtown, causing a traffic backup all the way to HEB. Until the truck is removed, motorists are advised to avoid the area around the cloverleaf in Brenham.

I wish the state would make a smoother transition to 290 Austin. Also an underpass at Chappell Hill would be nice while we’re wishing.
I wish people would slow down and watch the road.
Our new incoming county judge should add this issue of replacement of the cloverleaf with an outer loop to the next Transportation master plan for the county next year.
