2ND ANNUAL “SAFETY DAY” TOMORROW

The Washington County Boys and Girls Club is hosting its 2nd annual “Safety Day” tomorrow (Tuesday).

Partnering with Texas AgriLife Extension Service, the Boys and Girls Club will host “Safety Day” tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m.  A number of organizations are participating in the event, teaching safety in a variety of settings.  The Brenham Fire Department will focus on water safety, while Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative will demonstrate electrical safety.  The Washington County Constables will discuss gun safety.  There will also be presentations about first aid, snake safety, bicycle and ATV safety, Stranger Danger, and Texting and Driving.

Wendy Frazier, a Director for the Boys and Girls Club, says one of the most popular demonstrations is the Rollover Simulator.  Kids get to experience what happens when you don’t have your seatbelt buckled during an accident.

Frazier says around 250 students attended last year’s “Safety Day”, and at least 300 are expected this year.  The free event is open to all kids and begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Washington County Boys and Girls Club, located at 1710 East Tom Green Street in Brenham.
