HIGHWAY 105 BRIDGE PROJECT EXPERIENCING HEFTY DELAYS

The Highway 105 bridge project between Brenham and Navasota could potentially be delayed for several more years.

Since the project began in 2014, the $24.4 million project to replace three bridges in the region has stalled.  The Texas Department of Transportation attributes it to the bad weather over the past few years.

Chad Bohne of TxDOT says the rainfalls in May of 2016, spring of 2017 and Hurricane Harvey all contributed to a series of lengthy delays.  Bohne says the rain has eroded the ground under the bridge, and crews lack access to the areas they need to continue construction.

His team is working on a new design plan to move forward with construction, which will move back the winter 2018 completion date.  Once the redesign plan is completed, the project could take up to two years to finish.
