HORDE OF BEES REMOVED FROM HOME IN CALDWELL

A Caldwell woman had over 20,000 bees removed from her property last week.

Kathy Martin, who lives at 903 Westview Circle in Caldwell, was shocked to find a large hive of bees nested in the eaves of her home, near her patio.  Martin says she knew she had a problem with bees, but she didn’t realize it had gotten that bad.

Martin requested the help of Patrick Schilling of Caldwell to remove the bees.  According to Schilling, the hive was about five years old, with the comb measuring around two-by-two feet.  He says he has seen combs up to six feet long, with hives housing up to 50,000 bees.

Schilling regularly relocates bees and bee hives to his home, where he keeps them alive for further honey production.
