FINAL WEEK OF EVENTS AT ROUND TOP MUSIC FESTIVAL

  

The Round Top Music Festival is getting underway with its sixth and final week of events this year.

There will be a Clarinet Master Class with Jason Shafer today (Monday) at 1:30 p.m. in the Edythe Bates Old Chapel, along with a Viola Master Class with Lawrence Wheeler tomorrow (Tuesday).

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Young Artists Chamber Music Groups will perform at 7 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall.  Master Classes and Chamber Music Groups are free and open to the public.  Friday will play host to the best of the 2018 Chamber Music Program, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall.

Saturday will conclude the festival with a showcase of this year’s percussion section at 1:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, followed by an homage to Claude Debussy at 3:30 p.m.  The homage will feature appearances from violinist Joan Kwuon and cellist Stephen Balderston.

At 7:30 p.m., the Texas Festival Orchestra will give its final performance of the festival, with Carl St. Clair conducting work from Debussy, Mozart, and Prokofiev.  Pianist and Institute Founder and Artistic Director, James Dick, will join the orchestra in the performance.

All concerts and master classes are held on the Festival Hill Campus at 248 Jaster Road, in Round Top.  Tickets are available online at festivalhill.org.
