SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN FM 390 ROBBERY FOLLOWING LENGTHY SEARCH

Authorities have arrested a 14-year-old male in Grimes County, who was charged with aggravated robbery near Brenham earlier this month.

According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, the juvenile was taken into custody in Navasota on Tuesday.  The suspect will be charged with felony escape from a correctional facility, along with the aforementioned aggravated robbery charge.  He has been transferred to Rockdale Regional Juvenile Justice Center.

The juvenile was one of two suspects who robbed a man at gunpoint near FM 390 on July 3, taking several credit cards and checks from the victim.  The juvenile suspect, upon being arrested on July 5, was able to escape custody and fled to Navasota.  Sheriff Hanak says the 14-year-old again tried to escape from officers on Tuesday.

The second suspect, 20-year-old Cornelius Beroid of Navasota, is currently being held at Washington County jail—on bonds totaling $1.3 million—for charges of aggravated robbery, credit card abuse, and failure to identify.  According to Sheriff Hanak, Beroid is also facing charges on separate offenses in Burleson and Waller counties.
