GRIMES CO. MAN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Matthew Foster (Grimes Co. Sheriff's Office)

A Grimes County man has pled guilty to child sexual assault charges.

Wednesday, 12th District Court Judge Donald Kraemer sentenced 27-year-old Matthew Michael Foster to 30 years in prison, for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.  Foster was arrested on sexual assault charges in June of 2017, after being accused by a 4-year-old girl in southern Grimes County.  He has been in custody since the arrest.

During investigation, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Kindale Pittman learned that Foster had also been convicted of Sexual Assault of a 9-year-old female while living in Montana in 2006.  According to Pittman, Foster had moved to Grimes County and neglected to register as a sex offender, as required by law.

District Attorney Investigator John Wren uncovered another case from Montana in 2006, when Foster was accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at knife-point.  Foster had not been prosecuted for this particular case.

Investigator Wren, as well as District Attorney Investigator Cody Payne, travelled to Montana during investigation to gather evidence and locate the victims.  Both of the victims agreed to come to Texas and testify against Foster.  Investigator Payne discovered more than a dozen images of child pornography on Foster’s computers and phones.

District Attorney Andria Bender, who handled the plea agreement, commended the investigators for their extensive work in the case.
