COLLEGE STATION MAN SENTENCED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Samuel Norris (Brazos Co. Jail)

A College Station man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for aggravated assault and family violence.

On Monday, 30-year-old Samuel Norris was found to be in violation of his probation, and was adjudicated guilty of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Judge Kyle Hawthorne determined that family violence and a deadly weapon were involved in the assault.

The conviction came from an incident in August of 2016, when Norris became angry after his fiancé did not answer his phone calls.  When he confronted her about the calls, Norris slapped her in front of their children, and threatened her with a knife.  Upon the victim escaping and calling 911, Norris fled the scene.

Norris was originally placed on probation for the assault.  However, Norris fled Texas and moved to Florida without the court’s permission.  He was eventually arrested and returned to Texas, where his probation was revoked.

The victim and her children have since been escorted to Phoebe’s Home in Bryan, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
