BRENHAM ASSAULT TRIAL BEGINS TODAY

  

Jury selection got underway this morning in the assault trial of a Brenham man.

42-year old Charyan Demon Thomas is charged with two counts of assault of a family or household member after an incident back in February.

The case is being heard in 21st District Court in front of District Judge Carson Campbell.

Thomas was indicted in March on two third-degree felonies, which have been enhanced to second-degree felonies due to prior convictions.

Thomas was apprehended was arrested back on April 3^rd.

Assistant District Attorney Lauren Haevischer will try the state’s case against Thomas, who is represented by Bruno Shimek.

Thomas was previously convicted of aggravated robbery back in 2002 in Colorado County.
