BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT

A Brenham man has been arrested for theft charges after a nearly two week-long investigation.
Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak reports the sheriff’s office responded to a theft call at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, in the 200 block of O’Malley Road.
Upon their arrival, the property manager reported thirteen air conditioning coils had been stolen from a storage area. The manager said that the coils had been in an occupied storage unit.
On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies arrested 24-year-old Caleb Gene McCarty of Brenham at his place of employment, on a felony warrant in connection with the theft.
McCarty was taken into custody without incident and transferred to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with Theft of Material, specifically copper. McCarty remains in custody with bail set at $5,000.
