FAYETTE CO. OFFICER RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

A Fayette County patrol deputy has received a prestigious law enforcement award.
At last week’s Texas Sheriff’s Association Conference in Grapevine, Drug Interdiction Sergeant Randy Thumann received the Gregg McFarlin – Max Banks Award for Texas Lawman of the Year. This award is presented to a recipient that demonstrates outstanding work accomplishments and service.

The award was established in 1985 in memory of Gregg McFarlin, son of the late Sheriff R.L. McFarlin and Kaye McFarlin, who died in an accident at the age of 9. Gregg had wanted to be a law enforcement officer. The award is also in memory of the late Max Banks, oil entrepeneur and loyal supporter of law enforcement.
