BISD LAUNCHING FREE MEAL PROGRAM

  

Brenham ISD has announced its new policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for children.

Children from households whose income falls at or under a certain threshold can qualify for free and reduced-price meals, served under the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program for the 2018-19 school year.

With the program, eligible students could only have to pay 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch, or receive those meals for free.  The program is available at all BISD schools.

Letters are being sent out to households, informing them of the benefits available for their children.  To apply for the program, they must fill out an application available online, at http://brenham.healtheliving.net.  There is no deadline to submit the application.

The information parents provide on household size and income will be used to determine eligibility for the program.  Foster children who are cared for by a welfare agency or court may also be eligible for benefits, regardless of household income.
