A&M CONCLUDES ALAMO CANNON PROJECT

A yearlong conservation project conducted by Texas A&M involving Alamo cannons came to a conclusion Wednesday.

The A&M Corps of Cadets performed a ceremonial transition of the last of seven cannons that were used at the Battle of the Alamo.

Texas Land Commissioner George P Bush said, "When visitors are standing on that battle ground listening to a living history interpreter explain the origins of the cannon, their imaginations can transport them back to one of the most pivotal moments in Texas history.

The cannons have been completely restored and will be transported back to the Alamo where they will be put on display.
