BLINN COLLEGE OPENS WALTER C. SCHWARTZ BUILDING

Hundreds of community leaders, students and faculty were in College Station on Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the Walter C. Schwartz Building at the RELLIS Campus.
The 83,000-square-foot facility is slated to hold classes starting Monday. Blinn College District Chancellor Dr, Mary Hensley spoke at the event, saying the building “will serve as a gateway to discovery and innovation.”

The building will feature 19 classrooms and eight laboratories, and will also offer programs for several Bachelor’s degrees, through the RELLIS Academic Alliance. All RELLIS students will utilize the building during its first academic year.
The facility is named after the late Walter C. Schwartz, who spent 46 years with Blinn College. Schwartz, a graduate of Brenham High School, served as a teacher, president, Dean of Students, and Chancellor during his time with Blinn.
