BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE ACQUIRES BRENHAM CLINIC

Baylor Scott and White (BSW) has announced it will be acquiring the Brenham Clinic, along with two other clinics.

Starting September 17th, the Brenham Clinic, opened in 1957 at 600 North Park Street, will become an affiliate of Baylor Scott and White, after recently ending its partnership with College Station Medical Center in July.  The clinic had previously been partnered with them since 2009, before making the separation announcement in April.

Physicians from The Brenham Clinic said they believe this will be a good opportunity for each party involved.  General Surgeon, Dr. Jeff Stoltenberg says they are prepared to “move forward together to serve the community,” while Pediatrician, Dr. Donald Draehn says “personal, empathetic care will continue for Brenham, Washington County and the surrounding area.”

In addition to the Brenham Clinic, BSW announced it will begin student health services at the Blinn College Student Clinic.  The Baylor Scott and White Clinic in Bellville, at 235 West Palm Street, Suite 150, will be their first location in Austin County.   Each of the transitioning clinics will be under new names, but will keep their current location and operating hours.

BSW President – College Station Region – Jason Jennings says the addition of these new providers allows them to continue providing “safe, quality, high-value, convenient care for residents of Brenham and throughout Washington County.”  He says the expansion to Bellville also provides the opportunity to strengthen their commitment to communities in the area.

According to a release by BSW, this partnership brings the addition of more than 80 staff members from each of the clinic locations, including 14 physicians and seven advanced practice professionals.  These locations will now offer pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology services, along with family and internal medicine, radiology, and general surgery.

According to BSW Marketing and Public Relations Consultant Megan Hoffman, BSW has invested $2.5 million in their new locations, in order to deliver “high quality healthcare to Brenham, Bellville, and surrounding communities.”

Hoffman also says patients can continue to see their old providers.  However, she could not say specifically if they can keep their same insurance, since insurance varies by carrier and the coverage a patient receives.  She said in that case, it depends on specific people and situations.

All of the affected clinics will transition to the new system on Monday, September 17.  However, Baylor Scott & White – The Brenham Clinic and Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Bellville, will begin their first full day of service on Thursday, September 20.  Through September 17-19, patients can visit existing BSW locations at 700 Medical Parkway and 604 Highway 290 West in Brenham.
