LOCAL HOUSING AUTHORITY NAMES NEW DIRECTOR

  

The Brenham Housing Authority has a new executive director.

Ben Menjares has been named executive director of the BHA, succeeding Vince Michel (Mi-shel).  Menjares has been with BHA since 2004.

Menjares has been with the BHA since 2004.  He has served as maintenance supervisor, assets manager and headed the project to rehabilitate the community center on Hasskarl Drive.

BHA has 300 “low income” units in four projects, a 50-unit complex for elderly residents and a Section 8 program authorized for 101 vouchers.

The authority recently converted 66 units into “project based” Section 8 housing.  According to Menjares, Section 8 affordable housing, based on income, but funded through a tax credit program.

They are also in the midst of construction for 80 new Section 8 units that will also replace public housing.
