BRENHAM F.D. ASSISTS WITH DIESEL SPILL

The Brenham Fire Department was called out to a diesel spill Thursday morning.

Just before 8:45 a.m., the department received a call about diesel fuel leaking from a truck, on the shoulder of Highway 290 East.  Units were called out to the 2400 block of the highway, where they found about 15 gallons of fuel had spilled from the truck’s passenger-side saddle fuel tank.

The 18-wheeler, which was carrying pipe, lost a drive shaft which hit the saddle tank, causing it to leak.  The leak was found underneath the saddle part of the metal that held the fuel tank up.

BFD members stopped the leak and used absorbent on the spill, containing the approximately 15 gallons of diesel.  The trucking company involved was responsible for the cleanup of the spill.
