PLANE FORCED TO MAKE LANDING NEAR INDEPENDENCE

A small single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing west of Independence this (Thursday) afternoon.

DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan says at about 3:30 p.m., the aircraft, belonging to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, made a controlled landing on property near FM 390.

Morgan says the plane struck a fence upon landing, but at this point there have not been any injuries reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating what caused the incident.
