STATE SENATOR REPORTEDLY UNDER INVESTIGATION
The Austin American Statesman is reporting that the University of Texas in Austin is investigating a Texas state senator.
Three senior UT officials have reportedly confirmed an investigation into Republican State Sen. Charles Schwertner of Georgetown.
Schwertner allegedly sent a sexually explicit image and text message to a graduate student he met at an on-campus event this summer.
A spokesperson for Schwertner tells The Texas Tribune the lawmaker "categorically denies knowledge of" the allegation.
The spokesperson went on to say that Schwertner, became aware of the allegation when contacted by the media late Tuesday afternoon.
A UT-Austin spokesperson told the Tribune "the university does not discuss ongoing investigations."
