A man involved in a train-auto collision north of Brenham Monday morning has been identified.
19-year-old Robert Franklin of College Station was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph’s in Bryan, after his vehicle was struck by a train at the crossing on FM 50, in between Independence and Clay, at about 7 a.m.
DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan says Franklin was headed southbound on County Road 466 in a 2003 Audi. The train, headed westbound, struck his vehicle on the driver’s side. Sgt. Morgan says this crossing only has a yield sign, with no crossing arms.
Franklin, who plays football for Blinn College, was reported to have non-life threatening injuries. FM 50 was closed for about three hours, while crews were at the scene.
