The Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business last weekend, holding a ribbon cutting for The Shabby Cupboard Deli and Fine Foods.

The restaurant, located at 5120 Main Street in downtown Chappell Hill, is owned by Rebecca Lewis, winner of 2012’s “Cupcake Wars” on the Food Network.

Chamber President John Wick says Lewis came to the area over six years after winning that competition.

Through that time, she created four cupcake franchises from Galveston to the Woodlands.  He says Lewis has become part of the Chappell Hill community overnight.

After selling her Cupcake Cowgirls stores, Lewis says she looked for a place where she could try something else with her business plan.  After looking for a place close to her home of Buckhorn she found Chappell Hill.

Lewis says she built a successful restaurant in Gainesville, Georgia named Sweet Magnolias, which uses the same menu.  She believes this menu will complement existing restaurants in and around Chappell Hill.

The Shabby Cupboard Deli and Fine Foods is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.  They offer lunch and carry out meals, and will look to offer baking courses in the near future.
