DEADLINE TO FILE FOR VACANT BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL SEAT MONDAY
Any potential candidates for the vacant Brenham City Council seat will need to file for it by Monday.
City Secretary Jeana Bellinger says the deadline to file for At-Large Council Position Five is Monday, October 8th, at 5 p.m. The position has been vacant since August 16th, when former councilman Charlie Pyle resigned due to ongoing health issues.

Currently, there is only one candidate that has filed for the seat: Clint Kolby. Kolby is a former Project Manager for the Brenham Economic Development Foundation.
If no one files by the deadline, Bellinger will present a certification detailing an unopposed election at October 18th’s council meeting. The council would then move forward without the election—currently scheduled for December 8th—and would swear in Kolby at a future meeting.
Anyone interested in filing for the position will need to pick up an application from Bellinger, and have it filed by 5 p.m. on October 8th.
The winner of the seat will serve the rest of Pyle’s term, until May 2021.
