MEMORIAL SERVICE SET FOR THURSDAY FOR MATTHEW SPAHN

A memorial service has been scheduled for former Brenham High School cross-country runner Matthew Spahn.

Services are set for Thursday at the Brenham High School Auditorium, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Spahn died at Baylor Scott and White in Temple on Wednesday, October 17th, nearly two weeks after being struck by a car while walking in the 2600 block of Gun and Rod Road.  Brenham police are still investigating the case.

Spahn was an organ and tissue donor.  His family plans to cremate his remains and have a private ceremony separately.

There will also be a memorial fundraising event held on Sunday at Brenham High School from 4 to 7 p.m.  A five-kilometer run and walk, “Run for Matthew” will go towards the Spahn family to help with medical bills.  The cost to enter into the 5K is $25 per person.

There will be other activities offered at the fundraiser, including baked goods for sale, a bouncy house, face-painting, and more.

To learn more about the fundraiser, along with memorial items for purchase, go to Facebook and search for the “Run for Matthew” event page.

The family also has a GoFundMe account, for anyone who wishes to donate, at www.gofundme.com/68bq23c.
