BRENHAM STUDENTS VISIT GOOGLE OFFICE IN AUSTIN

  

Recently, Brenham ISD students had the chance to travel to Austin to visit the Google office.

Fourth-grade Gateway students from Alton Elementary School were given a tour of the Google office on Tuesday.  They also learned about software engineering.

Brenham Middle School student Jesus Gatica, who serves as a student advisor to the BISD Technology Department, looks to one day work for Google.  He recently gave a presentation to his sixth-grade class about using a Chromebook app to create digital stories.  He said he learned a lot from the visit, and called the trip “awesome”.

BISD Instructional Technology Specialist Tom Spall said the experience allowed students to learn about computer programming and coding, as well as the future of technology and work routines of people working at Google.  He said students should continue to have opportunities to learn about technology and careers in it.
