TWO BRENHAM RESIDENTS SUFFER MAJOR INJURIES IN AUSTIN CO. AUTO ACCIDENT

  

Two Brenham residents sustained serious injuries in a car accident Saturday night in Austin County.

John and Carol Haarmeyer were involved in a two-vehicle accident around 8 p.m., near Bleiblerville.  The accident occurred at FM 2502 and Eben Road.  Details have not been given regarding the nature of how the accident occurred.

Carol was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hermann in Cypress, while John was Life Flighted to Memorial Hermann in the Houston Medical Center.  Austin County EMS says a third patient was treated at the scene, but did not release the patient’s name.

Carol was reported to have suffered lacerations and broken bones, which will require surgery.  John suffered several severe lacerations, multiple fractures, and internal and external injuries.  Family members say he will require multiple surgeries.  The injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

The accident was worked by EMS, along with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, and the Bleiblerville and Industry Fire Departments.  Authorities are continuing their investigation.
