BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONTINUE TALKS ON OIL AND GAS ORDINANCE
The Brenham City Council will continue discussion on its oil and gas ordinance at Thursday’s meeting.
Councilmembers will issue a second reading of potential changes to the ordinance, which called for city regulation of oil and gas operations. Discussed regulations include permits, onsite requirements for safety, and setback requirements.
Councilmembers are also considering adopting a resolution calling for a fee schedule. This fee schedule would include prices for permits and inspections.
The council will also hold public hearing to potentially amend zoning ordinances for the Vintage Farms Subdivision at Thursday’s meeting. These will concern zoning classification changes, as well as setbacks preventing certain placement of air conditioning units.
Possible changes to the zoning map would allow the subdivision, nearly 87 acres, to be classified as a Planned Development District, including residential areas and mixed business/residential use.
In other items, the council will look at authorizing setback requirements previously approved by Brenham Planning and Zoning. These concern land at the College Heights Addition at 810 Brown Street.
Councilmembers will also approve changes to the council’s upcoming meeting dates, and view the city’s holiday schedule for 2019. After Thursday’s meeting, the council will meet next on November 29th, and again on December 13th. Following that, it will meet on January 10th and 17th.
For the holiday schedule, councilmembers are considering adding Washington County Fair day in September, to help employees with their involvement in the county fair.
In addition, councilmembers will hear the first reading of an ordinance calling for an increase in retirement annuities in the Texas Municipal Retirement System, effective January 1st.
The council will also look at a shelter agreement with the Brenham Pet Adoption and Care Center and Hill’s Pet Nutrition, for discounted pet food through Hill’s Food, Shelter and Love Program.
The council will also look at executing an agreement with TxDOT for temporary closure of state right-of-way, for December 1st’s Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade. In addition, the council will hold work session on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, and its roles and responsibilities.
The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m., at City Hall.
