HOUSTON MAN ARRESTED IN WASHINGTON CO., CHARGED WITH EXPLOITATION

(Washington Co. Jail)
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Houston man on charges of exploitation.
Monday afternoon, before 3:30 p.m., Sergeant Investigator Damon Wegner was informed of a possible scam in progress in the 3400 block of Old Gay Hill Road, involving an elderly victim.
The victim’s son reported that his father had written a check for painting services which never took place, and that payment had been stopped on the check. A witness at the scene gave deputies a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, the suspect tried to cash the victim’s check at Burton State Bank, but was denied.
Witnesses gave the description and license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle, which was stopped on U.S. Highway 290 by Deputy Michael Yanez in the Westwood area.
The suspect, 59-year-old Jimmy Young of Houston, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. Young was charged with Exploitation of a Child/Elderly/Disabled Individual—a third degree felony—along with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid Driver’s License. He remains in custody, at $10,000 bond.
