WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TABLE ACTION ON SEEKING BIDS FOR DRILLING
Washington County Commissioners discussed advertising for drilling on county-owned school land, but tabled the action for a future meeting.
Commissioners were planning on seeking bids on about 698 acres of land in Tom Green County, as they were initially limiting the amount of acreage available.
However, with the increase in oil prices, commissioners decided it would be more appealing to bidders to advertise the entirety of the 14,000 acres on the land.
County Judge John Brieden said the county will be able to determine if any potential bids conflict with existing leases.
Since the wording on the agenda did not account for all of the land in Tom Green County, the item was tabled.
Commissioners also tabled an item dealing with a memo of understanding between county EMS and Texas A&M Engineering Extension. County Attorney Renee Mueller said she received notice of the item, which covered float boat operator training, on Friday, and wanted more time to review the memo.
In other items, the court approved the appointment of a replacement judge to serve at the central counting station on November 6th, Election Day. Brieden said that one judge was unable to work on Election Day, and the county appointed this judge to keep equal representation from each political party.
In addition, the court approved a formal notice for an above-ground water line in county right-of-way, at Old Mill Creek Road and Wildflower Road in Precinct 4. County Engineer Ross McCaul said the permit will last for 18 months, and GeoSouthern Energy Partners plans to use the water line intermittently.
Commissioners also approved an agreement with Rutledge Crain and Company, for auditing services for the fiscal year ending December 31st.
