TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FOR AREA COUNTIES UNTIL 10 P.M.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado WATCH for several counties across the Brazos Valley this (Wednesday) evening.

A Tornado WARNING was issued for Austin and Waller Counties, until 4:45 p.m.  A tornado was reported to have been spotted south of Sealy at about 3:20 p.m., in south Austin County.  A WARNING has also been issued for Lee and Bastrop counties, until 4:45 p.m.

A Tornado WATCH has been issued until 10 p.m., for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Caldwell, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, Waller, and Washington Counties.

A Tornado Watch indicates favorable conditions for severe weather and the potential for tornadoes.

Storms to keep an eye on include thunderstorms moving across the area, from the southwest to the northeast.  These systems are moving both along and ahead of a cold front.  Severe weather is expected throughout the night, with potentially damaging winds upwards of 40 to 60 mph.

Once the main line of severe weather passes, weather is expected to clear out in the area.
