WARTON MAN SENTENCED TO 99 YEARS IN PRISON
A Wharton man has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for the attempted murder of a Sealy police officer in 2012.
37-year Travis Bluntson was sentenced after a four-day jury trial in the Austin County Courthouse, earlier this month.
Bluntson was accused of the shooting of Sealy Police Officer Eric Gum, when Bluntson fled a traffic stop in March of 2012.
Bluntson’s trial had been delayed numerous times in the past six years.
It took the jury only 45 minutes to convict Bluntson following the trial. That same jury sentenced him after just 10 minutes of deliberations.
