SCRAP TIRE COLLECTION EVENT IN WASHINGTON CO. A SUCCESS
The recent scrap tire collection event held across Washington County was reported to be very successful.
According to County Environmental Health Director Mark Marzahn, over 2,670 scrap tires were brought in by nearly 460 people, through two weeks in October. All told, over 83,000 pounds of waste were removed from the community.
The event was sponsored by the county, along with the City of Brenham, in partnership with Keep Washington County Beautiful. The collection was made possible by grant funding from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, through the Brazos Valley Council of Governments.
Marzahn said county residents definitely took advantage to get rid of scrap tires for free. The Environmental Health Department thanks everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.
