LOCAL JOBLESS RATE RISES

  

The unemployment rate in Washington County rose slightly in November.

Washington County had a jobless rate of 3.4 percent last month, up from 3.3 percent in October, according to figures from the Texas Workforce Commission.  That rate is 3-tenths lower that the November 2017 rate of 3.7 percent.

Its local workforce totaled 14,634, with 14,130 people employed. In October, the county’s labor force was 14,609, with employment at 14,122.

November saw saw the state’s unemployment level remain steady at 3.7 percent—the same historic 42-year low it was in October.

The Texas economy added 14,000 non-farm jobs in November. Annual employment growth for Texas was 3 percent in November, marking 103 consecutive months of annual growth.
