OUT-OF-COUNTY BIRTH CERTIFICATES UNAVAILABLE FRIDAY THROUGH NEW YEAR’S DAY

Starting today (Friday), out-of-county birth certificates will be unavailable for a short time.

Out-of-county certificates will be inaccessible after 4 p.m. today, through January 1st.

The state’s Vital Statistics Unit is getting a new software system, switching to the new Texas Electronic Vital Events Registrar (TxEVER) system.  The new system will not be functional until January 2nd.

Anyone who needs an out-of-county birth certificate will need to come by their county clerk’s office no later than 4 p.m. today.  In-county certificates can still be obtained normally, as those records are on file locally.
