UPTOWN SWIRL HAILED AS A SUCCESS
Downtown Brenham was buzzing Saturday afternoon, as the Uptown Swirl filled streets and businesses.
Well over 1,000 people took part in the annual wine walk, as they strolled from shop to shop while sampling a variety of wines. While the weather was a concern ahead of the Uptown Swirl, it only brought cooler temperatures and breezy winds.
Brenham Main Street Board member Tom Whitehead said the event was a “big success for downtown”, saying just under 900 wine glasses were sold. He said the weather turned out to be great for merchants, as the cooler weather had more people spending time inside shops.
Funds raised from the Uptown Swirl go towards Main Street Brenham’s incentive grant fund, which helps with costs to renovate facades in downtown.
Sponsors of this year's Uptown Swirl were Cathy Cole of Heritage Texas Country Properties and H-E-B.
