DOWNTOWN BOLLARD INSTALLATION TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK
The City of Brenham plans to begin the installation of the removable bollard barriers in downtown next week. The city received a grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) for $23,500 in November to begin the Downtown Bollard Project. The removable bollards are designed to enhance the public safety of the downtown area during community events such as Hot Nights, Cool Tunes, Lighted Christmas Parade, Juneteenth Parade, Homecoming Parade, Washington County Fair Parade, and other events in the downtown area where large gatherings occur. The bollards will allow temporary closure of a street during downtown events to deter vehicular traffic from unintentionally entering the event.
The city plans to begin the installation on Monday of next week on 4 streets and one alley. The installation is planned for St. Charles Street at Main and Alamo, and Douglas Street at Main and Alamo, and the alley at 203 West Alamo. During bollard installation, the street will be closed for two days, and reopen Wednesday morning. Main and Alamo Streets will not be affected by the closure. On Monday of the following week, February 4th, the bollards will be installed at Park Street at Main and Alamo, and Baylor Street at Main and Alamo. (Click on map below to see full size)
