AUSTIN MAN ARRESTED IN FAYETTE CO. FOR DRUG POSSESSION
An Austin man is in custody, after his arrest on drug offenses early Saturday morning in Fayette County.

(Fayette Co. Jail)
Just after 12:45 a.m., Deputy Ryan Meagher stopped a vehicle on State Highway 71 eastbound just west of La Grange, for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the vehicle, Meagher immediately detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
After a probable cause search, marijuana was located near the front-seat passenger, along with a vial of THC oil, which is the active chemical in marijuana.
The marijuana itself is a misdemeanor offense, but the THC oil is considered a controlled substance, and is classified as a felony.
The passenger, 22-year-old Luis Alfonso Garcia-Gonzales of Austin, was booked into jail at the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
