BRENHAM ISD CELEBRATING NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK

Brenham ISD is reminding students that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

All through next week, Brenham schools will celebrate National School Breakfast Week. The campaign’s theme, “Start Your Engines”, reminds the entire school community that school breakfast provides a healthy and energizing start to the day for students.

While busy weekday mornings certainly make it hard for families to find time for a healthy breakfast, data from the US Department of Agriculture shows more and more students are partaking in breakfast at their school cafeterias.

Studies have shown that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to score higher on standardized tests, have better concentration and memory, be more alert, maintain a healthy weight, and reach higher levels in reading and math.

Students will be encouraged to start their engines next week with special menus, cafeteria events, and more.

Schools will be offering items like muffins, donuts, homemade banana bread, and breakfast tacos.  During the week, rewards will be offered to elementary students that join in for breakfast.

The “Start Your Engines” campaign is made possible by the School Nutrition Association and Kellogg’s®.
